It's His Birthday

He is, perhaps, the greatest living songwriter. Bob Dylan turns 68 today and with the recent release of his latest album and his ongoing "Never Ending Tour" he shows no sign of slowing down. Here's a classic from one of my favourite Dylan periods - the mid 70s - with the enchanting Scarlet Rivera on violin...

I loved the guy's songs as long as they were performed by someone else. To me he screwed up more of his own songs by singing them did anyone else.
my mom took me to see him when I was pretty young, I so wish I was older and could have appreciated him more.

He is the sage of our time, to be sure. Like a Rolling Stone was the anthem of my youth. I didn't see him live until much later, when he toured with Tom Petty. Still the best....thanks for posting this.
Happy Birthday, Bob Dylan!

Don: You blaspheme, sir! How could you?

Mr C: Hell, I only saw him live for the first time 2 years ago. Wish I could have seen him when I was younger.

Expat: and the anthem of mine! Glad you enjoyed the post. His latest album (sorry, CD) is just great.

The one song from Dylan that gets me every time is Tangled up in Blue; on the other spectrum Neil Young - Hurricane....

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
