Sunday Funnies - Canada Day/Independence Day Edition

My American friends and I are sharing a patriotic long weekend. Yeah, here in Canada, Friday July 1st was Canada Day. In the States, Monday July 4th is Independence Day. In Canada we celebrated our holiday with a visit from the future King, William and his wife Kate. In the States they have their own royal family, Kate plus 8. Ha, ha, got you there. I hope both my Canadian and American friends are enjoying their long weekend and celebrating safely. Cheers.

As a nominal Catholic, I like that last one...of course, the Depends one really made me LOL and I don't mean "Lady of Lourdes" either, because well, that would be weird if I become Lady of Lourdes. Or if I became a lady at all...which I don't want to be, just for the record, but it's weird to think about, especially being from Lourdes.

Ok. Now the hokey pokey is ruined forever. That cuts deep! heh heh

LOL = Lady of Lourdes? Bahahahahahaha!

Hey, that cartoonist is just vying for a precious spot on a pack of cigarettes coming soon near you! heh heh

Great choice Nomers. As always. You are one of the few reasons I love Sunday morns!

Those are all really good ones. I especially like the hokey pokey.

The Blagojevich one just makes me happy. As a native Chicagoan, I have been rooting for him to get a new "state" room courtesy of the tax payers.

Blagojevich is just one of those guys that give politicians a bad name, don't you think?

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
