_ause _onder and _un

I gotta pee, Pat.

Welcome to another results edition of Pause Ponder and Pun - wildly more popular than that age-old TV game show "Wheel of Fortune". About the only thing we have in common with that show's sexy hostess is the fact that all of you Vanna win.

This week's photo was kind of uplifting don't you think. You all rose to the occasion with some pretty great captions. Let's see who floated their way to the top, shall we?

"Honey! The ceiling still still tastes white."
Vaguemax

Forgetting the hardhat, Suzy ignored Krazy Glue's "Don't try this at home" disclaimer

Mary did her part to try to raise the debt ceiling.

She's trying to explain what a dangling participle is.

And now the moment you've all been waiting for. Well, whether or not you've been waiting it's nevertheless time to unveil our winner...

Maybe we should rethink the helium enema idea.

W00T, Jamie! (I think that's what the kids say. What? They don't say that anymore?) Way to go dude. You be hangin' with dufus this week. What say we get hold of a couple of those helium balloons and rent a DVD. I'm sure I can find a copy of "Up". Congratulations guy.

And we've got some new players who won, placed and showed this week, folks. So be sure to click through to their websites and check them out.

Until next time...

Congrats, Jamie! You were really 'on high' with that one.

And congrats to the honourables!

Nice tribute to Jack, dufus! I always liked him - he really had a great sense of humour. He will be missed.

You survived Irene, 00dzzo. Good to see you alive and well. The clip of Layton in the left sidebar of his "best of" from 22 Minutes shows just what a good sport the guy was...and shameless. He'd do almost anything to get his message across. ;-) The outpouring of affection from Canadians across the country has been stunning. I think politics in this country will miss him terribly. One of the good guys.

There'll be more remembrances in the Sunday Funnies tomorrow.

Yes, we 'weathered' the storm fairly well. Our island was spared major structural damages, but there were other islands that got smoked pretty good.

I remember Jack from way back when he was with the Toronto City Council. Even then he was shameless, but in a good way. I don't really think anyone disliked him. Yeah, he was one of the few good guys. Sad that he is gone. I hope his influence will live on.

Good to know you dodged another one.

Layton certainly led his party to dizzying heights in the last election. To bad he won't be around to as Official Opposition leader. Sad.

Helium enema? Hilarious!! Nicely done...

Yeah but remember, what goes up must come down and I'm not so sure I want to be around for that.

I won?? What a gas!

Ah, hahahahaha. Yeah, and you win our grand prize of...absolutely nothing. Congratulations, Jamie!

The honor alone is worth more than a mere prize...

Oh, you bet! And feel free to take the "hangin' with dufus" icon from my post to use on your blog.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
